It is a single-use chemical breathalyzer . Its operation is based on a simple chemical reaction that provides an indication of your blood alcohol level.
How to use it:
Preparation : You must wait at least 20 minutes after your last alcoholic drink and 5 minutes after smoking. This is crucial to ensure a reliable result, as residual alcohol in the mouth can skew the test.
Activation : The device is sealed by two aluminum membranes. To activate it, you must pierce them by firmly pressing on both ends.
The test : You blow steadily into the breathalyzer tube for two 10-second intervals. The exhaled air then passes through crystals contained within the tube.
Reading the result : After approximately 4 minutes, the crystals change color upon contact with alcohol. You must then compare the resulting color with the graduated scale on the breathalyzer. This scale is graduated in grams per liter of blood: 0.0 g/L, 0.2 g/L, 0.5 g/L, and 0.8 g/L.
Using this breathalyzer is simple and allows you to check your blood alcohol level against the legal limits in France, particularly for young drivers (0.2 g/L) and experienced drivers (0.5 g/L).
